Yeyungou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Yeyungou, Korla, Xinjiang. It was named by Korla Geological Party of Xinjiang in 1960, and formally cited in Regional Stratigraphic Scale of Xinjiang in 1981.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone and Siltstone. Gray-black and gray-white thin- to thick-bedded limestones intercalated with marl, purple-red siltstone and fine-grained sandstone, occasionally with pebbly sandstone. Exposed thickness 293 m. Thickness tends to increase from west to east, reaching 1350 m maximum.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable contact with the underlying Proterozoic gneissic granite, and regionally in conformable contact with the underlying Gancaohu Fm
Upper contact
Unconformable contact with the overlying Ayilihe Fm
Regional extent
Distributed from west to east in the South Tianshan subprovince

Fossils
Containing Corals Kueichouphyllum sp., Yuanophyllum sp. and Syringopora sp.; Brachiopods Fluctuaria undata, Linoproductus simenensis, Striatifera striata, Phricodothyris sp. and Dielasma sp., and crinoid stems, etc. In the Haliketao and Saaerming minor provinces, the formation also yields Fusulinids Fusulinella sp., Pseudostaffella sp. and Eostaffella sp.
